Gustav Goetsch, a St. Louis artist, spent time in New England, near Rockport and Gloucester, Mass. This is a scene from that region.

He won first prize for pastel at the St. Louis Artist's Guild in 1918.

The giltwood frame is old, probably original. The glass, however, is new museum glass, which is non-reflective and and filters UV rays. With the frame, the work measures 23" x 27".
