Marble and Porphyry Bust of the Emperor Nero

Large marble and porphyry bust of the Roman Emperor Nero, the white marble head set into a porphyry torso adorned with various marbles including Sienna and onyx, on a gray marble socle. Modeled after the ancient original in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.

While the head is carved from a single block, the costume is fashioned from large pieces of stone fitted together. The back is cast and chiseled cement, as seen in the photos.
